All About the New York Yankees

February 20, 2008 - The New York Yankees is a professional baseball team part of the Pro Baseball. The team was established in 1901. Prior to becoming the New York Yankees, the ballclub originally were the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Highlanders.

In 1913, they officially became the New York Yankees. After moving to Yankee Stadium in 1923, the Yankees haven't moved since. Since their inception into the league, the Yankees have become one of the most successful teams ever. They currently hold record to 26 World Series titles and 39 American League Pennants. In 1999, they surpassed the Montreal Canadiens' 24 titles.

The Yankees are also known to many fans as the Bronx Bombers, The Bombers, The Yanks, The Pinstripers and many more. The owner is currently George Steinbrenner, manger Joe Girardi and general manager Brian Cashman.

Many may remember the 1994 players' strike which led to the cancellation of the last eight weeks of the season and post-season. During that time, the New York Yankees were in first place in the East Division by six and half games. Unfortunately, no championship title was awarded that year.
